2.“Frog-auction” This is a new idea for me to try. The local library called and asked us to do a promotion with their summer reading program. These are not always good profit promotions, but they are great advertising and community good will so I try to participate. This summer the theme is Frogs. So I have encouraged my students of all ages to make a frog to display during the month of July at the library. We will tag each piece with the artist’s name. I have donated the materials for making these frogs, but we will be holding a silent auction on the items so two weeks after the frogs come “home” to my studio we will collect the funds and half will go to cover my costs of materials and half will go to C.A.T.S. {Creative Arts Teaching Seminars} which is an artists group I work with. Some of my students have already submitted bids on the frogs they have created and the creativity has been inspiring. We even have “frog seeds”. It will be fun to watch this event unfold and I am sure it will bring new customers to my location so it is a win-win for everyone! I have also used the Frog theme in the past with Vacation Bible School programs F.R.O.G.= Fully Relying On God.
